Wanderausstellung mit Gemälden regionaler MalerInnen aus Österreich, Ungarn, Kroatien, Bosnien und Herzegowina und Slowenien im Rahmen des EU Projektes „Das vierblättrige Glückskleeblatt“ des Instituts der Regionen Europas (IRE) unter der Präsidentschaft von Landeshauptmann a.D. Univ. Doz. Dr. Franz Schausberger.

schausbergerThe touring exhibition „Regional Culture = European Culture“ includes paintings of regional artists from Austria, Hungary and Slovenia (EU member states), Croatia (candidate country) as well as Bosnia and Her- zegovina (country with a potential candidate status). This project is ta- king part within the frames of the EU-project „Lucky Four Leaf Clover“. It stems from the conviction that the enlargement of the European Union is not to be endorsed from above.

On the contrary it must be based at the bottom. Therefore this project attempts to transfer the EU-enlargement process to the local and regional levels. The goal is to strengthen the mutual understanding of various regions of the mentioned coun- tries via regional art. In order to get to know the expressive power of the regional artists, this exhibition of paintings of regional artists will be presented in all project regions. We hope that this touring exhibition will increase tolerance, understanding and mutual respect for further development of the inimitable peace project.

My special thanks go to Dr. Hiltrud Oman for her most competent and reliable work. As well I want to express my gratitude to all our associates in the Regions of Oberwart, Güssing, Jennersdorf, Komitat Vas, Komitat Zala, Pomurska, Podravska, Međimurje, Varaždin, Krapina- Zagorje, Koprivnica-Križevci and Brčko District. Without their dedicated work and efficient as- sistance it would have been impossible to carry out this unique art-project with its convincing results.

Especially I would like to thank Kristina Sočev, Ina Prezelj, Larisa Križan, Jasmina Dolinšek, Mia Cingesar, Nataša Hlaban, Urška Fajt, Petra Schmögner, Annamária Gyurkovics, Darja Harb, Bogár Beáta and Ilija Stojanović. Last but not least my special thanks go to the artists who let go their paintings on a long journey.
